ATP Masters Paris-Bercy: Sinner wins the Late, Late Show - and has to get back to it straight away

This time it was Jannik Sinner who had to play well past two o'clock at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy. The South Tyrolean doesn't have time to regenerate.

The good news for Jannik Sinner is that after his success at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, he at least got a completely free day to breathe. The South Tyrolean took the second because he withdrew from the originally planned double with Stan Wawrinka on Tuesday. And strictly speaking, there was no game on Wednesday: When Sinner and Mackenzie McDonald were able to enter the center court in the Accor Arena, the clock was already showing a few minutes past midnight.

It speaks for Jannik Sinner's professional attitude to work that he didn't allow himself to be irritated by this. On the other hand, McDonald also deserves praise - because it always takes two dedicated employees to deliver a solid entertainment program. And that was 6:7 (6), 7:5 and 6:1 in favor of Sinner. Even though the game ended well after two in the morning.

Sinner with a flawless record against de Minaur

But the winner of Wednesday night has no time to regenerate. Because the tournament planners have rewarded him with the fourth match of the day: he doesn't play Alex de Minaur until 5 p.m., which is a pretty strenuous task even under “normal” circumstances.

From Jannik Sinner's point of view, there is at least one thing that is consoling: he has won all of his previous games against the Australian. And the last two weren't even close: he won in Cincinnati 2023 and in Madrid 2022 with 6:4 and 6:1 respectively.
