Andy Murray couldn't turn things around at the Australian Open either

Andy Murray has been unhappy with his appearances on the world's tennis courts for several months now. The first round appearance at the Australian Open will probably not have changed anything seriously. The world number 44. lost against the 30th seeded Argentinian Tomas Etcheverry after 2:23 hours in three sets 4:6, 2:6, 2:6. In the second round, Etcheverry will face Frenchman Gael Monfils, who also defeated German Yannick Hanfmann in three sets.

Towards the end of last season, Murray was very critical of his form and his mental attitude towards tennis. At the preparatory tournament for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year in Brisbane two weeks ago, the 2013 and 2016 Wimbledon champion also lost in the first round - albeit against Grigor Dimitrov, who went on to win the ATP World Tour -250 event.

In the press conference after the game, the Scot made people sit up and take notice with a message that the fans of the two-time Olympic gold medalist probably won't particularly like: "It's definitely possible that this was the last time I played here." Murray had reached the final of the Australian Open five times in his career, but was never able to win.

Here is the individual tableau from Melbourne.
