Re-Live: The complete match in the ticker

Jordan Thompson put in a fabulous performance at the start of the match in front of the home crowd and secured the first set against the favorites. Supported by the audience, the 47th in the ATP ranking maintained the level, but narrowly lost out in the tiebreak of the second set.

A turning point for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who from now on gained the upper hand over the Australian and clearly won the third set. However, Jordan Thompson didn't give up and didn't make things easy for the Greek in the fourth period even after another break. The top 10 player had to keep his concentration high in every rally in order to defend his lead.

Stefanos Tsitsipas first misses match points and has to fend off set points

The favorite was ahead 5:4, 40:15 on his own serve in the fourth set and managed to keep both match points unused. Instead, Stefanos Tsitsipas conceded the break and a short time later even had to fend off four set points before the second tiebreak of the game decided the outcome of the match.

After 3:36 hours, Stefanos Tsitsipas was finally able to put the lid on this match. In the third round, the Greek will now face Luca van Assche, who won against Lorenzo Musetti in five sets and will certainly not give Stefanos Tsitsipas any easy tasks.
