Boris Becker is miles ahead of Nick Kyrgios when it comes to success

To say that Nick Kyrgios' comments in The Athletic did not go down well with Boris Becker would be a gross understatement. The three-time Wimbledon champion, whom Kyrgios had described as having a game that was too slow for today's times (and not just Becker, but also Pete Sampras), now spoke against the short message service X. And how.

“Nick has been quite cheeky when it comes to tennis lately,” writes Becker. “Why is he talking about a sport he clearly hates? Fact check: Nick has never won a Grand Slam tournament as a player or coach (yes, one in doubles). So where does his credibility come from?”

Among other things, Kyrgios said that Novak Djokovic, the best current tennis professional, would “eat up” Pete Sampras, probably the best player of the Becker era. Generational comparisons (Laver against Becker, Borg against Nadal or Sampras against Djokovic) - Boris Becker is not a fan of that. Kyrgios should talk to his fans about many things. But please not about tennis.

In another post, Boris Becker finds a positive twist. “I wish Nick a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see him back on the court. He's an exciting player when he's fit. He has a Grand Slam in his pocket, but announcements should be made on the pitch.”
